06 Mar What is earwax and why do we have it?
Inside the ear we can produce what we call ear wax, it is there to protect the ear and keep the ear canal lubricated and safe from infections and insects. Some people like to use cotton buds at home to clean the ear, these if used too far or too rough can cause damage and can also push the ear wax further into the canal therefore causing a blockage of ear wax, this can also cause loss of hearing, imbalance and worst of all infections. If the buds are pushed to far into the ear or if using any sharp probes these can potentially damage or puncture the ear drum which can also lead to infection. With candling this is a gentle and safe way of helping to loosen the ear wax and help it out of the ear canal so it is easily cleaned from there, without entering the ear.
